Owls
On Friday night Ben and I went out to watch a movie after work.
Ben, who has this strange obsession with aliens and alien movies, and I mean that in the least dorky way possible, really wanted to see The 4th Kind, which is about alien abductions and is, cough cough, based on a true story, yeah right.
I, being a total wuss, didn’t really want to because I am the sort of person who will see a scary movie and then spend MONTHS recovering. After watching The Exorcism of Emily Rose, I still find myself pissing myself in fear if I happen to wake up around 3 am. I don’t even like making references to that movie because I feel like it might tempt fate. THAT IS HOW MUCH IT SCARED ME.
Understandably, I didn’t really want to add aliens to the list of things I have to be terrified of in the middle of the night.
However, when we got to the theatre, the movie that I wanted to watch had already started, so after being assured by Ben that we could get up and leave if I got too scared, we bought tickets for The 4th Kind.
Turns out that I was worried for nothing. The concept was a bit scary, and there were scary parts, and yeah, when I sat alone in the car for a few minutes after the movie I was a teeny bit jumpy, but that’s about it. I think the scariest part of the whole movie was the actress who played the ‘real’ Abbey Tyler. Man did she ever have a creepy face. And voice. Her voice was just terrible.
But anyway, the whole theme of the movie was that people got abducted by aliens and they all reported seeing an owl that stared at them. There were lots of close ups of creepy owls in that movie.
So, when we were driving home and I said, “STOP! I JUST SAW AN OWL!”, I think it was fair of Ben to think that I was trying to scare him.
“Really?”
“Yes! Go back!”
“No, you’re shitting me, right?”
“GO BACK!”

Oddly enough, I slept just fine.
Ben woke up at 3 am and couldn’t get back to sleep.
Hahahahaha. Seriously though – brilliant pic!
I LOVE this story.
Ha ha ha! Brilliant! I love owls. They have such a lovely call. I find it soothing when I wake in the night.
Maybe cause he’s not in your age group?
Cause he’s too hot for life lmao.
Omg, I for one, enjoy horror movies but I try to avoid the ones that are based on true stories cause those are the only ones that actually stick with me. D: They scare me shitless, and the Exorcism of Emily Rose was INSANE.
That’s a freaky coincidence that you guys saw an owl, but hey, at least it didn’t affect your sleep. Congrats! Haha.
Ah, I saw that movie on Friday. I wasn’t scared during the movie, but was oddly scared afterward? And I agree, the “real” Abbey Tyler was TERRIFYING!
Oh… and here I thought you had some nifty exams
Ahem anyway… I noticed that I tend to have nightmares when I don’t watch anything scary… rather weird.
That photo made my eyes go wide. Is it just me or does that owl look really creepy?
Adam… Creepy in a cute sort of way!
O RLY?
